The short version
This is a static reference site. There are no user accounts, no comment systems, no newsletters, no analytics scripts, no advertising trackers, and we set no cookies of our own. We have designed the site so that reading it tells us as close to nothing about you as the web allows.
What we collect — very little
- Server logs: like virtually every website, the server that delivers these pages records standard technical data per request — IP address, requested URL, timestamp, browser user-agent. We use such logs only to keep the site running and secure, and we do not build visitor profiles from them.
- Nothing else: we run no first-party or third-party analytics, no tag managers, no social-media pixels and no fingerprinting.
Fonts and third-party requests
Pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches a font file, Google’s servers receive the technical data inherent in any web request (such as your IP address and user-agent). We chose hosted fonts for reliability; apart from this, pages make no third-party requests. Google’s own privacy policy governs its handling of those requests.
The capital gain estimator
The numbers you type into the capital gain estimator are processed entirely inside your browser. They are never transmitted to us or anyone else, and they are not stored — reload the page and they are gone.
If you email us
Writing to [email protected] naturally shares your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use that information solely to respond — typically to correction reports — and we do not add it to any mailing list or share it with third parties.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — under the UK and EU GDPR, for instance — you may have rights of access, rectification and erasure over personal data a site holds about you. Given how little this site processes, exercising them is usually as simple as emailing us; where server-log data is involved we will explain honestly what exists and what can be done with it.
Changes to this notice
If the site ever adds anything that processes more data than described here — analytics, for example — this notice will be updated first, and the “last updated” date above will change accordingly.
